Category D Projects

The provision, maintenance or improvement of a public park or public amenity where it is for the protection of the environment
(NB ENTRUST considers that the wording ‘for protection of the environment’ includes the protection of the social and built environment as well as the natural environment. )
Bishops Park
At Bishops Park in West London, WREF supported a project which helped to renovate and enhance the central area of the park and it's pond. The central area was made into a multi-use area with links to and views of the river.
Hammersmith Park
At Hammersmith Park, WREF supported a project which provided a clean, safe, secure water play facility for local children and improved quality of play by providing a varied play experience. The site is on the edge of Hammersmith Park and was previously a sandpit and paddling pool with attendant Health and Safety and maintenance problems. The new facility replaced this with a series of underground water jets and pumps operated by pressure pads - providing an interactive experience.
Streatham Wells Primary School
WREF supported environmental improvements to the school grounds to maximise use of the school's resources for teaching, including: educational resources and packages, play area, shelter, scientific and environmental garden. These resources are shared with other schools and community groups in the area.
